Canterbury Christ Church University

Canterbury Christ Church UniversityWe are a Church of England University, with campuses in Canterbury, Broadstairs, Folkestone, Tunbridge Wells and Chatham, where our strong commitment to the Medway Towns is co-ordinated. We have a reputation for high quality and innovation in initial teacher education and continual professional education for teachers, and will support the Academy’s development and provision of an exciting curriculum and excellent teachers.

Our many other strengths, including our excellent Music Department, chime in with the Academy’s priorities, and one of our aspirations will be for students from the Academy to continue their studies with us when they move on from the Academy.

Rochester Diocesan Board of Education

Diocese of Rochester LogoRochester DBE is a charitable company and our business is promoting Church of England education. We have 88 schools and 189 parish groupings in West Kent, Medway, Bexley and Bromley. Our strong commitment is to excellent schools serving and accountable to local communities, with high achieving students: All Saints’ Primary School, Chatham, is one of ours, for example. We also have 30 employed youth and children’s workers in our diocese, several in Medway, and will look to support youth work through the Academy.

In Medway we currently have 9 maintained schools, all in the primary phase. Elsewhere we have five secondary schools, four comprehensive and one grammar school, and we shall be working with our own best schools, and excellent local schools to support the new Academy.

We mostly operate through the governing bodies of our schools, including parish clergy, and we supply about 300 governors in one way or another. We shall nominate the majority of the Academy’s governors.
